Behaviour Policy

  • I believe that children flourish in a calm atmosphere of care and respect. An ordered environment, in which children know what is expected of them, helps them to build positive patterns of behaviour.

  • I take care to praise and endorse positive behaviour.
  • Younger children will be distracted, not confronted, and older children will be encouraged to discuss issues of behaviour.
  • In any case of misbehaviour it is made clear that it is the behaviour, not the child, which is unwelcome.
Physical punishment is never used nor threatened.
  • Techniques intended to single out and humiliate individuals are never used.
  • Children will be given support to understand what is wrong, and will be helped to work towards a better pattern.
  • Children will be removed from an activity if their behaviour is anti-social.
  • Parents will always be informed of any persistent misbehaviour, and of the strategies being used to deal with it.
