Food and Drink

As a Childminder I will do my best to promote healthy eating and make eating a positive experience for the children. I will encourage children to eat their meals but I will not force them. Please review my example menu below

week 1

Roast chicken, potatoes, carrots and peas. Peaches and custard

Shepherds pie, baked beans. Ice cream

ham or cheese sandwiches, fruit salad

Kedgeree and salad. Stewed apple and custard

beans on toast, yogurt

Fish fingers, mashed potato and peas. Yogurt

Muffin pizza, Fruit salad

Grilled Chicken, potatoes and Veg. Ice Cream.

Cod in Butter Sauce, Mash and Peas. Jelly and Fruit

Friday

Beans on Toast, Ice Pop

Sausages, Mash and Peas. Yogurt

 

The children will be offered drinks and snacks throughout the day. I aim to give the children at least one piece of fruit mid-morning along with a drink of milk or water. The children will also be provided with a snack in the afternoon, this may be a biscuit or crackers. A drink of juice will also be offered with their meals. If your child has any special dietary needs or allergies the please let me know when they start to stay and then I can avoid certain foods and provide alternatives.

In line with Ofsted guidelines I will encourage children to drink water at regular intervals throughout the day. Babies under the age of one will be offered cooled boiled water in a sterilised beaker or bottle.
