Policy for Illness

1. Should your child become unwell while in my care I will contact you to discuss their condition. This will give you the opportunity to make a doctors appointment, if required, and alert you to their condition.
   


2. In an emergency I will summon medical help immediately.


3. If your child has diarrhoea and/or sickness, please keep them away from the childminding environment until 24 hours has elapsed since the last occurrence. If your child is taken ill while in my care I will contact you and ask that your child is collected as soon as possible to minimise the spread of infection.


4. If your child contracts conjunctivitis then they must be kept at home for 24 hours from starting antibiotic drops.


5. If your child contracts another infectious disease, for example chickenpox, please contact me prior to bringing your child for their usual daycare hours.


6. Should your child be prescribed a course of medicine by your doctor I am happy to administer this for you but you must ensure that a medicine form is completed and signed by you. You must ensure that you state clearly the times and dosage required for the medicine to be administered. I cannot administer non-prescribed medicines except infant parecetamol.


7. There will be no refund of fees for time away from the childminding setting due to illness.


8. Should your child have a long-term illness or require a stay in hospital please discuss this with me as soon as possible.
